CREATING CIRCULAR ECONOMIES BY REWARDING RESPONSIBLE BEHAVIOR

Σύντομη περιγραφή

The implementation of new practices in the circular economy by the Municipalities of Voio in Greece and Debar in North Macedonia aims at enhancing their sustainability, reducing their carbon footprint and improving the quality of life of citizens, while strengthening the local economy. Reciprocal recycling encourages citizens to return their packaging to special return machines for recycling. By returning recyclable materials, these materials can be reused, reducing the need to extract raw materials. This leads to a reduction in pollution and energy consumption required to produce new materials. The project raises awareness of the importance of recycling and sustainable resource management. Rewards (e.g. through cash or vouchers for purchases) act as an incentive for citizens to actively participate in recycling. The objectives of the project are to decrease the environmental degradation, promote the circular economy, enhance recycling and develop a culture of participation and responsibility among citizens.
