Women’s Employment and Entrepreneurship in Just Transition Territories

Σύντομη περιγραφή

The Just Femme project addresses the persisting gender inequalities in the labour markets of Just Transition (JT) territories, namely EU regions undergoing the systemic transformation of decarbonisation due to their (former) dependency on coal mining, fossil fuels, and carbon intensive industries. While the diversification of local economies and the implementation of measures towards clean energy and digitalisation represent a challenge for all EU regions, JT territories need to undertake far reaching measures, largely due to structural features of their labour markets; key among them is their male-dominated character. Focusing on how to retrain and reskill labourers to facilitate their transition to new jobs and avert unemployment surge, JT territorial policies face the, often undervalued, risk of not paying equal attention to the needs of women in these labour markets in multiple transition. OVERALL OBJECTIVE Just Femme directly addresses the risk of JT regions falling into a development trap, emphasising the importance of inclusive labour markets for sustainable growth. Its core objective, thus, is to promote territorial policies that promote the equal participation of women in employment, entrepreneurship and training initiatives, focusing on emerging green and digital value chains.
