The European mining crisis not only does represent the collapse of one of the main sectors contributing to economic and industrial development in the continent. This event also represents a radical change of the social and cultural organisation in many regions, whose history evolved together with the development of the extraction works. Whatever reasons for readjustment in each one of those regions, it is clear that these territories share a series of common economic and social problems derived from the strong downsizing of their main activity sector, which has been their economic base.<\/p>\n
