Enhancing institutional capacity of public authorities and stakeholders to implement territorial cooperation projects and initiatives in a cross-border, transnational, maritime and inter-regional context ~ SUMMARY: SMART-MED-CITIES (SMARTMED) aims to address a common challenge: the digital transition of Mediterranean cities and their transformation into smart cities. Transnational cooperation can strengthen the programme\u2019s impact and help create more innovative, sustainable, and human-centered cities that offer a better quality of life to their residents. SMARTMED presents an ambitious and forward-thinking approach to urban development, especially tailored for Mediterranean cities. Its focus on digital transition through transnational cooperation is timely, considering the increasing importance of smart city initiatives worldwide. Universities, innovation hubs, companies, and municipalities join their forces to help cities: &#8211; improve infrastructure and services by exchanging best practices and developing common strategies &#8211; increase competitiveness &#8211; share knowledge and experience &#8211; be more democratic and social digital cities by enhancing citizens&#8217; participation in the decision-making process of digitalization &#8211; improve skills for digital transition To achieve these goals, we aim to: &#8211; Create two local hubs and an online platform to support interaction, good practices, sharing information on existing services.
