Network for strengthening and improving the implementation of the IPPC European Directives regarding the Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control in the Mediterranean

Σύντομη περιγραφή

MED-IPPC-NET is a 30 month-project whose main goal is the identification of crucial aspects in the implementation of the IPPC Directives 96/61/EC and 2008/1/EC concerning Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control within the Mediterranean space, in order to establish a set of common criteria that should be taken into account by all Mediterranean regions wishing to enhance their implementation. These common criteria will constitute the inputs for the development of a common methodology for the implementation of the IPPC Directives within the Mediterranean area, which will help turn the Mediterranean into a point of reference regarding the environmental behaviour of its industrial facilities. To achieve this goal, project partners will be brought together in a Mediterranean network for strengthening and improving the implementation of the IPPC European Directives. Once created, a comparison among the different regions taking part in the project will be done, which will allow the detection of eventual strengths and weaknesses of the implementation of the Directives in the Mediterranean regions, facilitating the transfer of knowledge and experience among them and thus strengthening a more competitive and environmentally friendly Mediterranean space. The methodology developed within the project will be validated in a relevant sector in each partner region, ensuring this way its adequacy to the target geographic area and its positive impact on their environmental policies.
