Σύντομη περιγραφή

Dyspraxia, also known as DCD (developmental coordination disorder), is a challenge that influences fine and gross motor skills. The condition affects movement, coordination, and spatial awareness due to brain messages not being accurately transmitted to the body. This typically results in: fine and gross motor control problems, poor balance, learning basic movement patterns, difficulty remembering instructions, difficulty organising one’s time and remembering deadlines, increased propensity to lose things or problems carrying out tasks that require recognising several steps in sequence. In addition, children with DCD struggle with lower self-efficacy and lower self-perceived competence in peer and social relations in the psychological domain. One of the fundamental problems is still the lack of information, prevalence data, knowledge and understanding of DCD. Sports professionals have expressed a lack of guidance on how to effectively recognise and accommodate young people with DCD in their activities. The current games they utilize are not sufficiently accessible for these individuals, and repeating the same exercises may decrease motivation and fail to support diverse skill development. Accessing resources has proven challenging due to a lack of precise prevalence data in Europe, resulting in few organizations or sports clubs with awareness and examples of best practices. Since early identification and addressing of DCD is crucial, it is important to upskill actors in sports to address young people with DCD. Project’s specific objectives are: – raising awareness of the importance of early Dyspraxia identification. – mapping stakeholders who are working with children, especially those in a good position for noticing Dyspraxia. – creating and implementing a training format, through e-learning platform, for actors in sport to work with kids with DCD, aged 5-10. Our project will address the issue through building educational materials and raising awareness on DCD.
